Saint John Nepomuk Chapel
Est. 1854

Welcome to Saint John Nepomuk, the oldest Czech Roman Catholic church in the New World.

Welcome to Saint John Nepomuk Chapel, the oldest Czech church in the New World.  Founded in 1854, Saint John’s has been serving Catholics in the historic Soulard area of Saint Louis for 161 years.  Today we embrace our Czech heritage but our church is attended by people of all backgrounds from all over the Metropolitan Saint Louis Area.

Please join us for the holy sacrifice of the mass Saturday afternoon at 4:30 or Sunday morning at 9:30.  All masses are celebrated in English with Czech hymns on Sunday morning.

Advent is that special time set aside each year to prepare for the coming of the Christ Child.  It's the beginning of our liturgical year.  While the rest of the world is caught up in parties and shopping and all the secular things that go into the modern celebration, we take time to pray and reflect on the importance of the events we're about to celebrate.

Especially this year, when there's so much sadness and suffering in the world, we need Christ to restore us to sanity.  There are any number of resources available online to help with your Advent devotion.  A good place to start is the Dynamic Catholic web site.  But there are many, many more.  Just do a Google search.

While you're making your holiday plans, why not joins us for our special celebration on Christmas Eve.  Mass is at 4:30 PM, but come early to hear your favorite Czech carols sung by our choir.  Our chapel is always beautiful, but Christmas Eve is extra special.  We hope to see you then.

Join us each week on Saturday at 4:30 pm and Sunday morning at 9:30 for the celebration of the Eucharist.  Saint John Nepomuk is one of the most beautiful churches in the Archdiocese, and we don't preach a watered-down Gospel.  If you enjoy the traditional English language mass and solid Gospel teaching, we could be your new church home.   Or, feel free to join us any weekend.  Visitors are always welcome!
